WELCOME to XPLANE v1.1 This little tour through the X-Plane system will get you interested enough to want one for yourself.
X-Plane is designed around the pilot that wants to LEARN, PRACTICE, NAVIGATE and FLY in one of the most REALISTIC flight simulators available. This simulator fills that need with flying colors and then some. X-Plane delivers all the realism through an ADVANCED flight model in addition to the capaicty to simulate and deliver to the user the facility to fly any of the worlds greatest to simplest aircraft. The current version of X-Plane by Laminar Research is up to nearly version 4.0 and is priced at $150.00 This version of X-Plane has come out of archive status and comes at you with a great feature list that is comparable to the latest versions, and although it lacks some of the new 'whizbang' features of the new version, it is a fantastic 'back to basics' flight simulator. Screenshot 1: Sitting mighty at the go-point of the runway in a Mooney TLS. Current XPLANE users will recognize this panel. =) Those Souther Californian foothils lie just ahead. Screenshot 2: This one is from within the Beechcraft Starship, for current users... this is a 'new' panel and acutally I think it is pretty friggin kule! This shot was taken in the 'evening' setting on otto in the starship over 'Aspen'. Almost the 'Vader' airship. =) Screenshot 3: Out of all the shots, this one may be the most recognizable. I actually shot this while flying a VTOL TiltRotor I 'whipped' up from a modified Cessna 172. (Cessna VTOL Tiltrotor, fiction yes, but tiltrotor handle yes!) but that is beside the case. This screenshot illustrateds the HUD, which here has the actual digits for speed, heading and alt noted along with the scrolling tape. Option for colored HUD on this was not 'shown' Screenshot 4: Now this migh be the one most either love or hate. It may look 'pink' here but it is a bit more on the 'gold' tone really. It is the closest to the 'glass' panel of today. All the right stuff is in the right places and just land that B737 already... =) |
