Thanks Bob =)

I'll probably do the normal Kodiak paint scheme in a few common colors too and then get it ready to be available :D

I will be redoing it's exterior from the original prototype grey color to the present white style.
... and will be releasing it soon. :)

Nice! I remember when you did this plane way back, but I think it was some contract or copyright issues that prevented you releasing it to the public. Great looking plane that will be a lot of fun. :D

Honestly, it was my choice not to. It does contain proprietary information exclusively sourced from Icon in the build process. very specific deviations they dictated or specified. Icon and the A5 have gone forward over the course of several years now and they have vetted their aircraft in a variety of ways that makes me feel better about how they have attended some of the safety concerns I had about it before. One of my personal policies is to not provide anything to people that enables or provides for them to hurt themselves or others. So, never any military aircraft (the T6 is trainer category with only training munitions), definitely not the X45 or X47 drones, and also not recreational aircraft like the Icon which if flown as they had suggested, as casually and cavalier, was certain to result in many crashes and also possibly crashes into other boats/people as people would try and attempt to try those "skiing wingtips". It's also far enough away in time from when it was made, and who was claiming what about it re here versus elsewhere, that I'm more comfortable to let it go out now for anyone who is interested to have it.

It very much is a recreational plane only. akin to an ultra light. no systems, no autopilot, no nav system (only the new x-plane GNS430 itself, no HSI etc). It's literally simply a recreational plane to to hand fly and trim out for sight seeing and moseying around.

It's not without it's issues if you try to "ski the wingtip" as originally boasted. X-Plane is not so understanding, It will dunk the wing, and will flip you over. same now as always. (the aircraft does have acf invisible tip mounted floats also angled up. I know what they are doing and claiming. but it's simply reckless to do so) I do sincerely hope they have removed that from their marketing claims. (Ben Russel of x-plugins had produced the plugin for it, for them, which basically suspended all of x-plane's ground/surface/water handling and interaction, to mute away any and all sea surface bounce, to make it basically just steer and turn like a banked car on the surface of the water, and it really really really felt fake and arcade like, not like any real physics were happening. I didn't feel comfortable with that, but i also very well understood that to the layman at Oshkosh in the demo simulator, anything more realistic or authentic would be a pretty radical turn off.)

In reality now it looks like they have widened the body side sponsons for stability, which also better pushes back up on the downward side in any on-surface, banked movement. (hopefully to limit how much the wingtip might ever contact the surface. but I will forever say that a wingtip water surface contact is a significant hazard and liability) they also appear to have gone WITH flaps, the model has flaps but has them turned off because at the time they were unsure if they would have or not have flaps (wing complexity issue combined with the folding wing. but the prototype panel does have the switch and lights for them. mine doesn't, just the flat image graphic of the panel for that stuff)

I will say that the one best thing they have in there is the AOA instrument, and for the same reason all of my aircraft have AOA instrument

Interesting comments and very interesting video. Their approach to AoA seems to nail it. However, I can't imagine anyone, especially an aircraft manufacturer, advocating skiing a wingtip. Who in the world would risk not only their life and their airplane to do such a thing. Probably more than I would imagine. This looks like it will be a fun little craft.

Basically it's a flight out of Page Arizona, dropped into the Colorado River gorge below the Dam… couldn't resist the GTA style stunt flying to go under the bridge, water landing (watering), and takeoff, to return to Page Muni. Note the AOA instrument at water touchdown and runway touchdown. I'll narrate each picture later maybe. otherwise have fun with the little slideshow. =)
