Flying Cars & Concepts [WIP]

Postby AADX »

I think it's a fair time to begin this topic. I think that a variety of ~different~ concepts may be coming around b now so that they can all be shown through one topic and compared and even discussed. I have a variety of opinions about them, be that flying_cars, or PAV (personal air vehicles), and both the ideals of wanting to fly, as well as the requisite safety and regulatory concerns.

Looks like they married the Carver design with an autogiro. Clip shows EHLE and car test track near Lelystad, NL. Hmm, EHLE has 5/23, can't be EHLE then... (finally found it, it's on Gilze-Rijen AFB, that's the only one with Rwy 10)

Cool! Wonder how much they'll sell it for. (found that out too: abt 300K USD.)

It's unknown what license you'll need - I expected Gyro + Car. Hopefully they'll make it more affordable. Would be cool to zoom around. Only needs abt 300 ft of Rwy.
Aloha!,

Seriously cool. now imagine with some short broad 'wig' wings. This is what i've been talking about for a long time, related to the Seawing. In my drawings, the Cylon Raider style WIG is this type of direction.

Welcome Woodrow.

if anything I tend to think that personal-air-vehicles will likely be in the form of the quad copters. without any wheels other than for rolling in and out of garage. crossing aircraft and surface vehicle is a recipe for problematic structural liabilities.

flying cars are very often romanticized though. :)

I also think super scale multi rotor, autonomous, copters which the payload is parachute jumpers is in the forseeable future. that same super scale multi-rotor copter solution is probably already in development and will be the PAV flying-car that we'll see in the future. or something to that effect.

I had said in an email reply to another topic, prior to this news coming out. I've said and I've designed similar many many years ago. :geek:
